Insurance professionals work in the insurance industry, managing risks and providing financial protection against various uncertainties. They assess risks, underwrite policies, and assist clients in managing and settling claims.

Areas of Work:

  • Insurance Companies: Underwriting and selling insurance policies.
  • Insurance Brokers: Assisting clients in finding suitable insurance coverage.
  • Risk Management Departments: Identifying and managing risks within organizations.
  • Claims Departments: Evaluating and processing insurance claims.

Academic Requirements:

  1. ACSEE Level:
    • Obtain a minimum of two principal-level passes, with Mathematics as a preferred subject.
    • Meet the university’s specified total points requirement.
  2. Bachelor of Insurance and Risk Management (BIRM):
    • Apply for admission to a recognized university offering the BIRM program.
    • Successfully complete the BIRM program, covering insurance principles, risk assessment, and claims management.
  3. Internship and Professional Qualification:
    • Gain practical experience through internships.
    • Pursue professional qualifications such as the Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).
    • Register with relevant bodies for insurance professionals.
